What is brittania building society?

Britannia Building Society was a UK-based mutual financial institution, founded in 1856 and based in Leek, Staffordshire. It was a member of the Building Societies Association and had over 2.5 million members. The society merged with Co-operative Financial Services in August 2009 to form the Co-operative Banking Group. Britannia offered a range of financial products and services, including savings accounts, mortgages, personal loans, and insurance products. The society has won various awards over the years for its ethical policies and was considered to be a socially responsible institution. Despite its merger with the Co-operative, the Britannia brand continued to operate until 2013 when it was fully integrated and rebranded as the Co-operative Bank.
